This warranty is always backed by Generac, transferable if the home is sold, and can provide peace of mind by protecting against potential repair costs. This warranty is designed to cover defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Here is how that coverage typically breaks down: - ![standard-generac-generator-warranty](https://guardianhomegenerators.com/hs-fs/hubfs/standard-generac-generator-warranty.png?width=600&height=400&name=standard-generac-generator-warranty.png)   **Years 1–2** Parts, labor, and limited travel related to warranty repairs are covered. **Year 3** Parts are generally covered. Labor and travel are typically no longer included. **Years 4–5** Coverage is limited to the two major components: engine and alternator. #### **Important things to know about both warranty options:** - The warranty period starts when your generator is installed and activated. - Proper registration is required to receive full coverage. - The warranty does not cover damage caused by lack of maintenance, misuse, or external factors. - The extended fully replaces the factory warranty. ### \*What is not covered? - Maintenance parts such as oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, and battery, and fuses - Generators that are not properly maintained according to the schedule in your owner's manual - Water damage caused by sprinklers or other external sources - Insect or rodent damage - Lightning strikes or physical damage caused to the unit from external sources - See [Generac](https://support.generac.com/s/article/Is-There-An-Extended-Warranty-Available)for complete terms and details Don't worry, Guardian Home Generators has you covered for non-warranty maintenance and service too! Did you know you can buy an extended warranty after your generator is installed? As long as you have not had any non-warranty service claims, you can likely add an extended warranty. [Contact us today](https://guardianhomegenerators.com/contact-guardian-home-generators-of-dallas-ft-worth) with your serial number to verify your eligibility and secure your coverage before your current factory window expires. But don't wait, pre-existing conditions would make you ineligible, and lock in at today's pricing.   #### Why Many Homeowners Choose Extended Coverage **Predictable repair costs** As generators age, repair costs can increase. Extended coverage helps eliminate surprise expenses. **Labor coverage beyond the early years** Labor is typically the most expensive part of generator repairs. Extended warranties help cover this cost after the standard warranty phases out. **Long-term peace of mind** Generators are designed to last many years. Extended coverage protects that investment if you plan to stay in your home long term. **Added value at resale** The extended warranty is [transferable](https://support.generac.com/s/article/Is-the-home-standby-warranty-transferrable)!  Create value and make your home even more attractive to future buyers. #### Bottom Line Your generator comes with a solid standard warranty that protects you during the eariest years of ownership. An extended warranty builds on that protection for the long term, providing confidence, predictable costs, and maximum coverage for your standby power system.  Paired with our maintenance plans, you have a truly set-it-and-forget-it system you won't have to worry about.  Power Your Peace of Mind!   Do you have questions?  Need an extended warranty?  Need warranty service?
