Gas Appliance BTU Calculator
Select your gas appliances, enter the quantity of each, and adjust the BTU values to match your equipment. We'll calculate your total gas load to help estimate the generator size or gas supply capacity needed for your home.
When you call for your meter upgrade, tell them your consumption. The most common meter sizes are 630,000 BTU, 800,000 BTU, 1,000,000 BTU, and 1,500,000 BTU. There are high-pressure gas meters (pounds) or low-pressure gas meters (ounces). Generally, you want to stay with the same meter type you currently have. A low-pressure meter has a white face behind the dials, and a high-pressure meter has a red face.
Default BTU values are estimates only. For the most accurate results, use the BTU ratings listed on the appliance nameplate, specification label, or owner's manual.
